Hurricane Beryl Update

Dear JWMC Family and Friends,

I pray you are depending on God and each other to endure the current state of affairs. Our congregation and community continue to suffer from the lack of electricity. There is no electricity at our church campus as I share this with you. It is our hope that it will be restored today or tomorrow. But even if we get electricity restored at the church today, we will still be following the Sunday plan below. For your safety do not show up to the church campus in the morning.

All this being said, what is the plan? As I discerned and listened to the Holy Spirit and discussed with Pastor Trish, the staff, church leadership, and other pastors in the area, I felt that JWMC needed a hard deadline for a Sunday worship decision. We have met the set hard deadline. Saturday at noon has arrived, which helps put the following plan into action. Please read it all!

We will not have our regular services or classes on Sunday morning. Even if power is restored to the church campus before Sunday morning, we will NOT have services or classes on Sunday morning.

SUNDAY NIGHT WORSHIP at 7:00 P.M. at the Pavilion area (behind the gym by our large church parking lot). We will have one worship gathering on Sunday night in the shade of the Pavilion area. If, for some reason, we get power back to the church campus and have time to get the AC running, the plan is to move this 7:00 p.m. service into the building. If we do not have power, we will gather outside for a 45-minute service. This will be a great time to gather with members, guests, and neighbors. It will be like an old-fashioned summer revival. We will have a time of personal and corporate prayer, a short message from John 11, and sing a few of our most popular and beloved hymns from memory. Again, if we get power back to the church campus, we hope to gather in the sanctuary with AC, audio amplification, organ/piano and hymnals (no live streaming). All services this Sunday will be old-school revival style.

I would like to share two essential Christ-like responses for all of us:

LOVE YOUR OIKOS
Healthy and successful disaster response typically relies on local and relational efforts. Reach out to your neighbors and the members of the congregation. If you need assistance in supporting them, contact us the church office and we will see what local partner they can be paired up with.

GIVE GENEROUSLY
As many disaster relief and local partners ask for extra donations, JWMC is your first and foremost mission station to support. Your continuous generosity and extra gifts towards our mission/ministry efforts will be key in the coming months. If you can go the extra mile in your generosity, please do that at this link. No designation to your gift is preferred in order to maintain our response strength and flexibility. Meeting our summer budget needs will give us a greater ability to respond effectively to the disaster at hand.

If you cannot make the service on Sunday night, we pray you are safe and healthy and will be returning when we gather again.

Blessings in Christ’s Love
