METHODIST COLLEGIATE CHURCH

A FUTURE OF INDEPENDENCE  & CONNECTION
Strengthening Our Mission and Future

Why Should JWMC Join the MCC:
As we look toward the future of John Wesley Methodist Church, we recognize the importance of both independence and connection in fulfilling our mission. The Methodist Collegiate Connection (MCC) is Evangelical at its core and grace-filled in its practice, this collaboration of autonomous Methodist churches seeks to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and equip His followers for a life of ministry. The MCC provides a structure that honors our local autonomy while equipping us with the strength of a broader community. Here’s why this move makes sense for our church:

1. Preserving Our Independence While Gaining Support
One of the biggest concerns when joining a larger organization is the fear of losing control. MCC respects and safeguards our local church’s autonomy, ensuring that we:
• Maintain full ownership of our property and assets—nothing is held in trust.
• Have complete control over our financial decisions.
• Retain the final say in hiring our clergy, allowing us to choose pastors who align with our vision.
• Have a direct voice in the larger MCC through representation by both clergy and lay delegates.

This structure ensures that our mission, values, and leadership decisions remain in our hands while also benefiting from the wisdom and experience of a wider network.

2. Strengthening Our Church’s Future with Proven Support
We are committed to making disciples, growing leaders, and impacting our community—but we don’t have to do it alone. The MCC provides:
• An Orthodox Methodist Foundation – Staying rooted in historic, Wesleyan theology with shared doctrine and accountability. None of our foundational beliefs, doctrine or social stances will need to change.
• Pastoral Resources – If we ever need to search for a new pastor, we gain access to a community of vetted, qualified clergy.
• Leadership Development – Training opportunities to equip both clergy and laity for more effective ministry.
• Collaborative Ministry & Missions – Partnering with other churches on local and international missions, allowing us to make a bigger impact than we could alone.
• Resource Sharing – Access to ministry ideas, curriculum, communication and design templates, administrative insights, and more.

3. A Future-Proof Church for a Changing World
The MCC allows us to stay faithful to our Methodist heritage while adapting to the unique needs of our congregation and community. By joining, we gain:
• The freedom to make ministry decisions that best serve our congregation.
• The ability to innovate and collaborate with other like-minded churches.
• A covenant community of churches who will pray for us, support us, and challenge us to stay faithful to our calling.

4. Connecting to Our Global Mission Partners in Kenya
Rev. Joe, the local pastors & churches and ministries are all connected to the MCC.  Rev. Joe is one of the Deans or Bishops of the MCC of Africa.  There are over 90 local congregations in Africa that are not affiliated with the MCC.

A Step Forward in Faith
Joining the MCC is not about giving up our independence—it’s about strengthening our mission. It provides the best of both worlds: the freedom to lead our church as God directs us, while also benefiting from a network that enhances our ministry and impact.
