Student Worship on Sunday nights is on the Student Ministry Floor. (3rd floor of the Administration Building). Jr. High (grades 6-8) meets on Sundays from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm and Sr. High (grades 9-12) meets on Sundays from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Students can hang out on the 3rd floor on Wednesday nights and do homework, study, eat snacks, drink smoothies, and play games in a safe, supervised environment while they connect with other students. We even have tutors! Everyone is welcome. Bring your friends and check us out!

Director of NextGen Ministries

Chris is a born and raised Houstonian. He attended Eisenhower High School and has been married to his high school sweetheart, Lisa, for over 30 years! Chris and Lisa have 3 sons, three daughters-in-law, four granddaughters, and two grandsons. Family is very important to him, and he uses that passion to build the NextGen Ministry at John Wesley. At age 12, he felt the first call into the ministry. In his early twenties, he accepted that call on his life and began volunteering as a youth director at which point he knew he had found his purpose.

Chris attended The College of Biblical Studies and then Liberty University, where he earned his BS in Religion with a dual minor in Christian Counseling and Biblical Studies. Now, with more than 30 years of student ministry under his belt, God has given him a mission in the NextGen Ministry. Chris' diverse experience with both small and large youth groups allows him to minister to students, kids, and families from all backgrounds.
Chris and Lisa's enjoyment of movies, camping, hiking, and biking is only trumped by their love of spending time with their family. Chris' life verse is John 3:30. I must decrease so that HE can increase. This reminds Chris that this life is not about him, but about serving God and others.

Associate Director of NextGen Ministries

Lisa came on board at John Wesley in November 2019. As The Grow Coordinator, she is responsible for helping fulfill our mission of connecting people to Jesus and making disciples of Jesus Christ through our men's and women's adult ministries. Lisa oversees the integration of new and current members into the Develop Pathway, Life Groups, Small Group Studies and Sunday Groups.

Lisa is married to our JW Youth Director, Chris McCarthy, and has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Over 28 years she has served in many ministry capacities, including women's, youth, and children's ministries. It is Lisa's desire to see people experience the unconditional love of God through faith in Christ. She believes that we are all called to take the message of the Gospel to the world.
