The Finishes Are Coming Together!
It is exciting to see more and more of our God Is Big Enough renovations taking shape! In this latest video, you’ll begin to see some of the finishes appearing throughout the Sanctuary and Welcome Center.
Many of you got an up-close look a couple of Sundays ago during Make Your Mark. What an incredible turnout! It was especially meaningful to see every generation of John Wesley participating and literally leaving their mark on this next chapter of our church.
We also have some important updates on our timeline. The Sanctuary is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of October, which will allow the audio, video, and lighting installation to begin. The remainder of the renovations are expected to be completed in early November. At that point, we will move back into the Sanctuary for worship and begin enjoying these wonderful new spaces together.
An Update on the Prayer Chapel
As part of the GIBE project, approximately $45,000 was budgeted for inspection and repairs to the exterior wall of the Prayer Chapel. You may have noticed the protective plastic covering the wall facing Bermuda Dunes. Once that wall was opened and a more thorough inspection could be completed, deterioration was discovered in some of the structural supports.
The contractor has now provided initial estimates for the additional work needed to properly repair the wall and restore the Prayer Chapel. Those estimates are over $100,000 beyond what we had originally anticipated.
Our Building Team is working closely with the architect and contractor to determine the best solution, including the appropriate materials and scope of work. We want to address the underlying issues correctly while also being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.
You will hear more about the Prayer Chapel in the coming months, including renderings of the proposed work and additional information as plans are finalized.
