Progress in Motion
After completing our master planning process with Merriman Holt Powell, we are now transitioning into the critical design and construction phase. While MHP guided our visioning work well, they are unable to assist with this next step due to capacity limits. In response, our newly formed GIBE Building Team, led faithfully by Larry Leavell, has identified a new architectural partner: Mark W. Todd Architects (MWTA). Officially, we have not hired MWTA yet, but once the team has done their due diligence, they will make a recommendation to our Core Leadership Team to sign the contract.
MWTA brings deep experience in church and nonprofit renovations, coupled with a mission that resonates with ours: “We believe, with all of our God-given abilities, we help people live and function in an environment that inspires, comforts, and nurtures the community that it services, today and the generations to follow.” Pending Core Leadership Team approval, we are confident that partnering with MWTA will be a blessing for generations to come.
Campaign Funding Update:
To preserve our purchasing power, the Executive Finance Team has invested the received funds until we’re ready to build.
Pavilion Building Updates
Beyond design planning, we’ve already activated part of the campaign. Funds have been set aside to update the Pavilion Building at the back of our campus. This renovation, led by the Property Trustees, includes foundational repairs, plumbing upgrades, and interior renovations. A group of dedicated church volunteers is assisting with key demolition to prepare the space for professional updates.
Importantly, the Pavilion Building is being prepared to serve not only church needs but also as a crisis response center for our area. With a generator, shower facilities, and emergency accommodations, it will stand ready to offer shelter and care in times of need. Your generosity is already transforming our capacity to serve.
A Call to Legacy-Level Giving
At John Wesley Church, we believe in sowing seeds that will bear fruit for generations. The GIBE campaign is not simply about facilities—it’s about faith in action and a commitment to the next chapter of ministry on this sacred corner of Bermuda Dunes and Paradise Valley.
If you have not yet made a pledge or if God is calling you to deepen your commitment, we encourage you to give to the God Is Big Enough campaign. Every dollar is a seed planted in faith. You can give online or contact the church office to speak with someone about how your gift can make a lasting difference.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare to officially partner with our new architectural firm, we will enter the design phase with clarity and prayer. Updates will be provided regularly through church-wide communication and our GIBE webpage. Please continue to pray for wisdom, unity, and provision.
God is Big Enough—and through your faithfulness, the mission and legacy of John Wesley will shine brighter than ever.
In Christ,
Dr. Marty Dunbar
